Christy Craddock grew up in Kentucky and, several years ago, served as a summer intern with Touching Miami with Love. Her summer internship was sponsored by Kentucky Batist Fellowship. After receiving her social work degree, Christy went back to Touching Miami with Love and currently serves as their Youth Director. She recently sent this request:
We are looking for sponsors who would be willing to fund a scholarship for one of our youth from Touching Miami with Love (TML) to go to OASIS Camp during spring break.
The youth we work with in the inner city of Miami live in poverty and it is very difficult for them to afford a camp experience. Our youth live in a neighborhood filled with drug trafficking, gang violence, substandard government housing, and failing public schools. Because our youth live in poverty, many of them have never even left the city of Miami.
The OASIS Camp is designed for urban youth and it offers youth a safe, affirming environment away from the day-to-day pressures of their schools, peers, and neighborhoods.
At camp youth are challenged to restore their purpose in life and develop their relationship with God.
The cost for camp is $100 per youth. We have 20 youth from TML who want to attend camp. Youth must be willing to come up with $25 on their own, and we are working on fund raising the other $75 for each youth.
Would you, your co-workers, Sunday School class, or a Bible study group please consider sponsoring a $75 scholarship for one or more of our youth to go to camp? We would appreciate any amount you could contribute. This camp can offer our youth a truly meaningful experience as they grow in Christ.
We must turn in our money for camp by February 29, so if you are able, please send in your donation as soon as possible.Thank you for making a difference in the life of a youth!!!!
How to Sponsor a Youth:- You can mail a check written to Touching Miami with Love. Please send your mail ATTN: Christy Craddock, Youth Director at Touching Miami with Love. Please write on the memo line that your donation to TML is for YOUTH CAMP.
