Strategic Plan Guiding Statements

Adopted at KBF Town Hall Meeting, Lyndon Baptist Church, Louisville, November 22, 2003

Mission Statement

The Kentucky Baptist Fellowship is a fellowship of churches and individuals who share a commitment to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.  Our mission is to equip and empower Kentucky Baptist churches and Christians, cultivate partnerships, and engage in missions.

Our Values:
Jesus Christ is the center of our life and work.  God is our guide, revealed in scripture, discerned through the Holy Spirit in conversation with the gathered people of God.

Therefore we value:

  • our heritage as Christians and Baptists, including the principles of soul competency, priesthood of all believers, local church autonomy, freedom to read and interpret scripture, and the separation of church and state;
  • missions, social ministries, and evangelism;
  • diversity and openness to any believer God calls to leadership and ministry;
  • a partnership model of church life and ministry and our partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship

Our Vision

  • connect more churches and individuals with hands-on, face-to-face mission opportunities;
  • create partnerships among diverse churches and people;
  • become a more diverse and intergenerational fellowship
  • link congregations and individuals with educational support;
  • assist in the creation of new churches

Strategic Plan Guiding Statements

Our Core Strategies:

  • Do Missions - We actively engage Baptist Christians and churches in mission action, education, and support
  • Educate/Equip - We serve as a conduit for educational resources and opportunities
  • Communicate - We share the gospel story and the story of Kentucky Baptist Fellowship
  • Build/Celebrate Community - We foster fellowship and networking among Baptists in Kentucky

Our Strategic Priorities:

  • Missions Strategy - Engage Kentucky Baptist Fellowship churches and individuals in missions
  • Education/Equipping Strategy - Link Kentucky Baptist Fellowship churches and individuals to educational and equipping opportunities
  • Fellowship/Celebrate Community Strategy - Give Kentucky Baptist Fellowship churches and individuals an opportunity to fellowship together.
  • Communication Strategy - Keep Kentucky Baptist Fellowship constituents informed of the work within Kentucky Baptist Fellowship
  • Clarify Identity/Secure Financial Health - Give people within Kentucky Baptist Fellowship confidence that a plan is unfolding which will give Kentucky Baptist Fellowship a meaningful identity.  Determine how increased awareness and excitement can be transformed into greater financial support so Kentucky Baptist Fellowship can fulfill its mission.
